Turkey shares lower at close of trade; BIST 100 down 1.79%

Turkey equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Wood, Paper & PrintingHoldings & Investments and Basic Metals sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 1.79%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Anadolu Anonim Turk Sigorta Sti (IS:ANSGR), which rose 2.07% or 2.20 points to trade at 108.40 at the close. Cvk Maden Isletmeleri Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:CVKMD) added 1.88% or 6.25 points to end at 338.25 and Cimsa Cimento Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:CIMSA) was up 1.50% or 0.70 points to 47.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mavi Giyim Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS (IS:MAVI), which lost 6.23% or 4.95 points to trade at 74.55 in late trade. Batisoke Soke Cimento Sanayi TAS (IS:BSOKE) declined 5.79% or 0.64 points to end at 10.41 and Tumosan Motor ve Traktor Sanayi AS (IS:TMSN) shed 5.44% or 6.80 points to 118.10.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 481 to 94 and 5 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

 

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.02% or 27.80 to $2,687.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.68% or 1.27 to hit $77.02 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 1.21 to trade at $80.97 a barrel.

USD/TRY was up 0.28% to 35.48, while EUR/TRY fell 0.08% to 36.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 109.86.
